I ran across an American history textbook that is extraordinary reading. It's titled 'America: A Narrative History'. George B. Tindall and David Emory Shi are the authors. I have the 5th edition. Chapter 1 begins with pre-Columbian Indian civilizations and ends with Bill Clinton's administration. The book weighs four lbs. and surprisingly, the material covered is not politically correct. For example, American Indians owned slaves as did the freed blacks. Each chapter ends with further reading. I'm just starting to read it. Actually, I'm skimming through it. lol The Civil War chapters are quite interesting. Maps and pictures are scattered throughout the book.

Is this still available or out of print?
If you have the ISBN it helps.
This is off topic but I'm going to mention it anyway. College books are very, very expensive. For instance, Intermediate Accounting was about $375/new.
BUT, when there is an "International Edition" it will cost you ...
