Help Governor-Elect Ron DeSantis Stop Common Core in Florida

Governor-elect has a problem. How does a Governor who has long opposed Common Core and other federal intrusions into our children school choose an Education Commissioner in a State that has forced  Common  Core upon our schools in the name "accountability"? Since Governor-Elect DeSantis is not from Tallahassee, so he needs someone to advise him on education that is opposed to Common Core.

Anyone who has been involved in the stop common core movement knows who adamantly support and who had stood up again it in Florida. We know that Jeb Bush and been running the Florida Education Department behind the scenes since he left office. We know Jeb Bush, funded by Bill Gate, kept Common Core in Florida. We know that Governor Scott seems to have let Jeb pick Education Commissioners who supported Common Core in every way. We have seen Florida Legislatures support Common Core and when that did not work; they renamed the Common Core standards to the Sunshine State Standards. See Evidence that Florida Standards = Common Core

Governor-Elect Ron DeSantis has expressed his opposition to common core numerous times going back at least to 2014. Now, He is going to Tallahassee where Common Core has been untouchable. He will need friends, allies, and information that can break through the wall of fear on the subject of Common Core. Fear that that has Florida Senators, literary, hiding in their offices when "stop common core" advocates walk the halls of the State Capitol building. This is the time to free our legislators, and much more importantly our children and their teachers from the false "accountability' regime, which punishes third graders but rewards multinational test makers and textbook publishers who take our money to oppose our founding principles.

The first thing DeSantis must do is school an education transition team and then he must choose a new Education Commissioner.

The only name we hear going around about the Education commissioner job the former Florida House Majority leader Richard Corcoran. Recently the Orlando Sentinel reported that “Former Senate President Don Gaetz said Monday that Gov.-elect Ron DeSantis will likely choose Richard Corcoran ...as the new Florida Education Commissioner? The article said that Florida House Speaker was responsible for the final bill HB 7069 which allows public funding of private charter schools.

While School Choice" may be a good thing, it does nothing remove our children from Common Core and all its problems and unfunded mandates. In fact, HB 7069 actually requires charter School to conform to the Florida "Accountability" regime i. e. Common Core.

The best thing common core opponents can do right now, In my opinion, is to ask Governor-Elect DeSantis the put people on his education transition team that understands the problems its common core and its associated mandates.

I ask anyone who wants to stop Common Core in Florida to let the Governor-Elect know their concerns about common core. We also need to put forth names of people that should serve on his transition team and would make a great Education Commissioner.

Below is a list of some individuals I believe should have an important seat on Governor-Elect Ron DeSantis' Education transition team. Whether you support those on my list or you support others, this transition team and his choice of Commissioner will determine if successful as governor or not. We need him to succeed because a generation of common core educated ill end this nation and its founding principles.
