Excerpts: An interestingly timed information release by the Hillary Clinton State Department tips the media off to ongoing negotiations between the United States and Afghanistan to extend the stay of American military well beyond the often repeated 2014 deadline. Just last week Vice President Joe Biden repeated the 2014 promise during a debate against opponent Congressman Paul Ryan that U.S. troops were to be out of Afghanistan by 2014. Now just a week later, the State Department directly contradicts Biden’s comments.
