My friends on Facebook have asked me why I always post so many tree pictures. I use a tree for my profile there too. This is what I wrote.
I love trees because when I was little my dad often took me with him to do our friends and family's yards. He would put me in a play pen under the trees even until I was about four or five years old. He gave me toys and books but I spent most of my time laying on my back staring up through the tree limbs daydreaming. He wouldn't mow near me and he said I would cry sometimes when he had to move me to somewhere else if it wasn't under a different tree.
When I got older he would let me help him with the plants and I learned a lot about bushes and trees and how important they are. I liked to go to the nursery with him to pick things out. Sometimes he would let me put the small ones in the ground and he would tell me this tree could be around longer than either of us so do a good job. I liked thinking about that I was doing something that would last. Sometimes when I ride by a place we planted trees I stop and look at them to see if they are okay.
What would it be like if we didn't have any trees? God knew what he was doing when he made them. This is one of my favorite bible verses about trees - Psalm 1:3 He will be like a tree firmly planted by streams of water, Which yields its fruit in its season And its leaf does not wither; And in whatever he does, he prospers
When I am feeling bad I can go outside and sit under a tree and look up and say a prayer and feel better in minutes.
Tress are beautiful and useful miracles that God gave us.
Now you know why I love trees so much.

I think that I shall never see
A poem lovely as a tree.

Against the sweet earth's flowing breast;
A tree that looks at God all day,
And lifts her leafy arms to pray;
A tree that may...
