Previously I wrote about a serious issue I am having with my health insurance situation. (HERE http://www.teamnetworks.n... )
This was not the first complaint I wrote about because previously I had yet another issue on signing up through HealthCare.Gov. (HERE http://www.teamnetworks.n... and a follow up HERE http://www.teamnetworks.n... / )
In those accounts I blamed Obamacare. Now while I believe Obamacare contributes to the situation, I must also point the middle finger at Florida Blue for being one screwed up company.
Almost two weeks ago now, out of the blue, I got a bill saying I owed them over three thousand dollars and that my insurance was terminated retroactively to September 2015! The facts are that they can see I made all of my payments yet they are showing that I am cancelled for lack of payment! Additionally, the over three thousand dollar bill does not add up even if it were the case that they weren't showing I paid, to what my payments would have been! That figure can not be arrived at by any one's math to date. Also there is no indication as to why the end of September was the retroactive date! And for the clincher, if this isn't resolved, all of the very expensive tests I had after that date, would retroactively not be covered! I am talking about over ten thousand dollars worth of tests and doctor visits.
Last week I spent over fourteen hours on the phone between them and HealthCare.Gov. I spoke to so many agents and supervisors that I lost track of the number of them. I have a total of five case reference files going on and today after two more hours, I got basically no where again. At the end of last week I was promised that it would be handled today. But, what did I find when I called? That they had closed the case and was waiting from something from me. "Something from me??????" I luckily had asked HealthCare.Gov for an escalation of sending them all of my records again. So I had a case number today and gave them that. Although they should not have been waiting for me, as they knew they were to call HC.gov to get that if they needed it. I take this as nothing but more poor service and a stall.
So today, no one knows any more than they did before. I called another number the State Insurance Regulatory Department gave me last week after they told me if nothing was resolved today to call that number and ask for an advocate. None of these calls are easy because the automated process now currently doesn't show me as having a policy so nothing they ask for matches. I have to just get lucky with an answer that finally lets me through to someone. Then the calls seem to be routed to somewhere in the Caribbean, where the very loud noise, laughing and talking in the background makes every call hard to hear and difficult to follow. I have been to the Caribbean and am guessing by the accents I primarily get but it could be Timbuktu for all I know.
Today I called the state provided number, my last resort before filing a complaint with the state. I have been given another 24 -48 hours to get it taken care of notice and if it isn't done by next Tuesday that's my next step. If that doesn't work I guess I am getting an attorney! This is devastating. And all the while HC.Gov shows me still signed up, so is Blue Cross Blue Shield Florida Blue still getting their money even though I am cancelled?
I have no idea where this is going. I would appreciate prayers for a just resolution!
Oh and one final smack in the face, the last number I called told me upon taking the call, For Spanish PRESS ONE. :/
