The subtle shades of pink and blue outside of my window fade

as grey calls night to cloak the day's parade

of colors bright and grand that pleased the eye to see.

So quickly the darkness takes hold as skylines disappear

and creatures take to rest or without fear

prepare to prowl if nocturnal is their way to be.

And I a lonely human look with eyes unable to pierce

through constant shifts from bold to calm to fierce

but yet my soul counts and records them for eternity.
