Today my friend posted an image on facebook pointing out that Republicans stood against the "Equal Pay for Women" bill in unison. The first response to it showed that the idea was taken at face value to mean that Republicans hate women. It plays right into the "Republcan War On Women" theme the left so much likes to push. This was my response to the post.
I'm an independent (thinker.) - I am a woman and am very interested in this. So I dug around on it to see why would the republicans vote against it. There is much to be said about it to be found. If you like to consider things from every angle, you might check into it as well. Here are a few starter places that might get you investigating further.

# Two Ways to Hurt Women in the Workplace - This article shows how the 77% was calculated by lumping all women vs all men and does not compare a man and a woman in the same position. The Equal Pay law has been in place since 1963 already! This bill would make a ton of money for the lawyers because it says, for example - "the PFA allows employees to sue businesses that pay different workers different wages—even if those differences have nothing to do with the employees’ sex. # America's Crisis Isn't About Womens' Wages, it is About Men's Wages - This article mentions quite a few things that ought to be further looked into but its primary beef is that since 09 the average income for everyone in the middle class has fallen by $1,800. And it also reminds us that Obama signed the Lilly Ledbetter act guaranteeing equal pay into place as one of his first edicts. If I take heat for posting this so be it. I believe we owe it to ourselves not to be dumbed down Americans following talking points of the right or left. I investigate everything. I take no sides except for the one that best serves God, me, my family and my country. Sometimes it is hard to know what that position is. But I try my best before forming opinions to know they are based on all of the evidence I can gather.
In this case, I came to understand why they voted against it and it isn't because "Republicans hate women" such as is being inferred as the left's talking point. One of the articles mentions how the Democrats have no women in certain high paying powerful positions where the Republicans do. So rather than let this divide us, like they hope we stay divided, lets stand together for truth. Women have been used as pawns in so many ways and to serve so many agendas that have nothing to do with women's welfare in the end, and that is what we should be fighting against together. I'm just sick of politics using us a pawns and props to get this or that person elected or serve the purposes of the agenda pushing elite et al.
