Welcome. I'm finding that it doesn't always work but it sure saves money when it does.
edit to add.... I also watched a vid how a woman rigged up a vacuum cleaner to seal with. It worked well in the vid.

I don't can either but do a fair amount of dehydrating. Any food can be vacuum sealed to make it last longer.
