What's the difference from letting Amazon have an email?

WEll if you buy something that's different. I can understand the need to be in touch with a shopper who bought. These stores won't even let you see what they sell unless you give them your email, and with that they target, track and spam you forever for just looking at their site!

Well, now that I won't go along with. I have enough merchants who have let me see their wares without "signing in," that I really don't need to "know" any more.

Yeah it seems crazy to me. But lately I've seen quite a few doing it. And it is unfortunate because at least two appear to have things I am really interested in but I stubbornly refuse to give them an email just to look. lol

Hmmmm.... I guess I don't do enough online shopping because I haven't had a problem with it.

There are two stores that got me looking into this. One is a woman's clothing store and the other is Wayfair - home goods. That's how I correspond with them, for order confirmation and shipping notices. But I reserve the right to opt out of their "e-mail flyers."

Do the stores that won't even let you see what they sell until you give them an email leave you alone too upon request? I own a store site and I would never consider making people give me their email to just look around. I wrote to one of the stores and said I wouldn't do it and they replied that th...

I use an email account just for e-commerce. If it gets flooded with spam, I don't care.

Me too! I still don't like the idea of not even letting me shop until they can market to me after studying my shopping habits. I would have to REALLY need something that I could only get at that site for me to do it. I hate having to have more than one address but today it is so neccessary! I also u...

The only problem I see with this is one that was revealed on Amazon a few years ago. Variable pricing. Once you identify with an email address, the retailer can systematically adjust prices to account for where you live, past purchase history, etc. Basically, they can look for ways to jack up the ...
