yep! As soon as I posted it - I had the same thought upon looking at it again. But don't you think registration has been very instrumental in helping to solve a lot of murder cases?

I dunno it was a question. I tried to find out stats on that a long time ago and couldn't. I read a lot of opinion pieces but never saw the first stat about how many crime cases had been solved via the purpose of registration. I have always been against it but would like to know if there is a reason...

Once a gun goes out of the hands of an FFL dealer there is little chance of tracking it down. A pawn shop would have the latest owner of some but there are so many private transactions most would be lost in a maze I am thinking.

Regisration is probably only good for IF or WHEN a fire arm has been stolen...they can then see if it was ever used in a crime where the gun was left behind.

Lots of guns are purchased off the internet and those are not registered.

Registration is for the birds IMHO....it has never been of use for the...

The only reason I can legitimately think of for registering weapons are so who ever may want to take them will know where they are at.
I believe history has born that out as well.

That was my original thoughts about it as well - I'm too tired to look this up at the moment, but I'm trying to think, when did this gun registration stuff start? What crisis was it that the left didn't let go to waste?

Wasn't it the St. Valentines Day massacre? If memory serves me correct the first gun registration was in 1938.
