I bet you are burning some of it too right? Brrr.. when I look at this map I really feel for you and Janice especially - OH and RAW because I know she is also in the negative zone!
I had a bunch stacked up until my furnace died in January and I was without heat for 4 days until they could install a new one. Grateful for the fireplace in the living room and oven in the kitchen--stayed pretty warm...
Smart lady. It's always good to have a back-up. I have a small camper with a woods stove in it in case something happens to my place. I keep it stocked and it doesn't take much wood at all to heat it.
A criteria for my house when I bought it lo those many years ago was a working fireplace. Not only for possible outages (when the lights go out, the furnace does, too), I love sitting here reading or working on the computer with a fire going.

This brings back a memory. When I was a child, we lived in a four-suiter. In the front there were a bedroom and the living room; behind them the bathroom and kitchen. Then behind that in a corner was my room, sandwiched between the outside wall and an unheated stairwell to the upstairs units. We had a big space heater in the corner of the living room that kept the first four rooms pretty warm, but my room was always freezing, and I would wake up in the middle of the night because I was so cold. I'd run for the space heater and park on the floor with my back against it for about 15 minutes, then run like heck for my room before the heat wore off, lol. At least I could sleep. I did this every cold night for about eight years--maybe that's why I remember to give thanks for a warm, comfortable bed every night since!
I'm just enjoying this while I can. Only 5-6 months left of it.
