Unfortunately most private school accepted the common core, Even Catholic schools where each Dioceses decides. The only school that MAY be able to resist common core is a Montessori school. And then if they accept certain students who get certain grants, they too will fall

Guess they'll have to ask around then to all the schools.

Are parents in the USA still allowed to home school their children in a traditional way; meaning they are in charge of the curriculum and how they teach it?

Yes , for now, in certain places, and if you get into the right program, I am starting to look into this but we really do not have the time. Maybe with a Home school co-op, we could.
