I might comment that catnip is really easy to grow ONLY if one does not have a cat--then you mostly have dead twigs and chewed-on leaves...

We use the Aloe vera juice on the skin as a repellant for mosquitoes. Works well for us. They hover over the skin but won't land and bite.

I also was told that using White iodine in oil can be used as a mosquito repellant on the skin...and crushed mint....
