Saint Leo University to Hold Fifth Annual International Business Conference Feb. 19-21


Journalist and commentator Tucker Carlson will appear at Saint Leo University (www.saintleo.edu ) February 19 to deliver the keynote address at the university’s Fifth International Business Conference. He is known to television audiences nationally as the co-host of Fox & Friends Weekend, and as a former anchor of CNN’s Crossfire program.


The conference theme is “Innovation and Internationalization.” It is organized by the Donald R. Tapia School of Business and will be held at University Campus from February 19 to 21. University Campus is located at 33701 State Road 52 in the east Pasco County town of Saint Leo, four miles east of Interstate 75 (Exit 285). Parking is readily available in the campus garage.


Mr. Carlson will speak at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 19, in the Student Community Center Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardrooms. Admission to the talk is free and open to the public, but tickets are required to reserve seating. Tickets are available by calling (352) 588-8837 or emailing amanda.laffin@saintleo.edu.


A Regional & International Economic Development Networking Dessert Reception will be held just prior to Mr. Carlson’s talk, from 6:15 until 7:20 p.m. in the atrium of the School of Business building. Guests should also contact Ms. Laffin for admission, specifying reservations for both networking event and the talk.


The conference will continue through Friday, February 21 with sessions scheduled both in the Saint Leo Student Community Center and the School of Business building. There will be attendees from 14 countries and every continent. Some programs are geared to academic audiences and business researchers, while others draw on the experience of professionals and executives in the business world.


Registration at www.saintleo.edu/ibc2014 is required to attend Thursday and Friday programs. Students may attend at a deeply discounted rate.


A highlight of Thursday’s program will be the plenary speaker, David Harmony, deputy director and chief human capital officer of the U.S. Federal Reserve Board of Governors. His presentation is scheduled from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m.

Thursday evening features “Carnival de las Americas,” an Intercultural Student Association Regional Spotlight Reception, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the School of Business Building atrium and loggia.


The closing session speaker is U.S. Representative Gus Bilirakis (R-Palm Harbor), who is scheduled from 2:30 to 3:20 p.m. Friday in the Student Community Center Greenfelder-Denlinger Boardrooms.
