This is strange because just this morning I was laying in bed thinking about fertilizer.  (I know.....who lays in bed thinking about this smelly stuff!)  I asked my husband if fertilizer 'explodes'  and he said "No.".  So I wondered what made the Texas fertilizer explode and I started snooping around and found this article!

Fertilizer itself doesn't explode on it's own. It needs a fuse...however some of the Chemicals used to make fertilizer do. It is why Jihadi's use fertilizer to make some of their bombs. Crude bombs but nevertheless they can still be harmful to one's health!

PLus the number of gawkers alone who would try to get in would be enough reason to turn them back.
 
Has anyone heard if there are investigations in to why the Alabama ships exploded night before last? I haven't seen much at all on this.

Seven explosions in 'Bama?  Never heard about those but will Google.  I too read about the train cars but what I read said it was doubtful that that was the cause.  So many stories, so many versions, so much confusion!!

It wouldn't blow up on it's own...it would need a fuse or igniton of some sort. The Chemicals used to manufacture it though are volatile in nature...they could explode.

I believe it was deliberate. It was to hide the information that this plant was supplying a material used for the Boston Bombings and others in the future.
Just last year ( If I remember correctly) the Plant had their hands slapped for having an over abundance of a chemical on hand and poorly stored?
