 Let this be a lesson Florida Republicans who support Common Core. The story of how Florida's Education Commissioner, Tony Bennett, lost his reelection as the Indiana state superintendent of public instruction to Democrat Glenda Ritz, a teacher running for her first elected office. The primary issue was Bennett’s vocal support of common core.  In his article on Boston.com dated November 8th. 2012, Jim Stergios suggested that Glenda Ritz “hung the use of national standards and national tests to evaluate teachers around Bennett's neck”.  It wasn’t just teachers He further remarked that  “The fact is that while Bennett faced an onslaught of angry teachers, the numbers point to anger among his base over his vocal support for and adoption of the national standards and tests. Activists note that it was “the prime issue among his base.”

Students are our future and they need to be considered as individuals, not as  classes or student body.  Common Core contributes to state managed, robotic, non-thinking and unchallanged students.  Individuality is trumped by socialistic standards resulting in unmotivated learners.
