What a run around he gives for someone who supposedly helped start "The TEA Party." I guess he didn't get the memo that the point of small grass roots movements are not to goose step into the branding, as he calls it, by who? Who branded the TEA party and purports to rule this one and only TEA party that he mentions? He names two big groups, Tea Party Express and FreedomWorks, who he said spent the last four years making millions for its leadership, and who as far as I can research seem to be sponsored as much by mainstream GOP as anyone of a different mind.

IMHO this is why there has been no additional march on DC called by "THE TEA PARTY". They looked around at the million plus people who showed up not carrying offcial signs demanding what this man considers off the wall splinter groups' concerns and not main stream messaging such as the eligibility of the man called Obama, immigration reform, pro-life and his list went on about what the TEA party is NOT. I should invite him to my TEA party group. We could teach him a thing or two.

The only saving aspect of this article is that in one important way he is right, no one is completely controlling what the TEA party is and that means he can't speak for IT either. There are so many factions wanting to control the 40% of people who aren't in either party and anyone who thinks of themselves as TEA party types. Unscruplous people are power grabbing and if you caught the part about the millions raised, there are large groups money grabbing. The big takers don't want the competition. They must control their "Brand" and keep the "little people" in line with the approved message, or so it seems to me.

Well friends, let me say this. If this man represents the TEA party maybe we need to rethink our association with them as those associated with the big groups apparently want to control this unregistered new third party that I think they would like it to be seen as. It doesn't matter to me what a locally organized group calls them selves, stick together, stick to people who are of like mind, fight for what you know is right and keep shining the light that God gave you on truth. And please, remember that come 2014 and if it is God's will that we make it to 2016, we better have each other's backs even if we have to stand next to guys like this to stand against what the Fascists posing as Marxists have lined up for us next.

Thanks this is a really infuriating article! I agree and have also thought that this is exactly why we haven't seen another march. So what are we waiting for? We don't need Freedom Works or anyone else to tell us its time to go. It is past time to go!

Me and my family would have dropped what we were doing had there been another march.  It was the most patriotic event that I ever participated in.

He seems to be saying that those who don't fall in line are toxic to the big bucks agenda pushing large groups who claim to have started the TEA party. I disagree. They are its lifeblood and while I understand that the premise is to stay out of issues other than those that represent big government a...

I totally agree.  When I went to the March in Sept 2009, I was just getting into the political protest stage.  I was proud to be in DC that day because I felt like I was one of a very large group of good people.  After that, it went downhill and I distanced myself.  The original, and unorganized Tea...

SOME OF US still are. :
I think other than those with existing political ties, that we are all still out here and if we've each reached even one person since then, we've at least doubled. And consider for every person there, how many couldn't come.

They can't own the concept of what a TEA party is, Ob...

Safari gave people like me and her a title, we are a TEA party of 1. We will fight for what we think is right and join where it is in alignment with our own quests but not beholding to any group nor will we allow them to be beholding to us. I had to quote you on this Safari I hope you don't mind. It...

The tea party idea is alive and well, we were fractured by the GOP and maligned by the Dems. so now we have become the loyal underground resistance fighters. Too many of us are awake and we cannot go back to sleep. I have been working on the Common core issue for a while but could not even find any ...
