AN AMERICAN FIFTH COLUMN: THE DEEP STATE

First, a review: The term “fifth column” refers to any group of people working covertly inside a nation to undermine its strength while the nation is simultaneously suffering an overt attack from a foreign or outside source.
The term was coined by General Emilio Mola in a radio address during the Spanish Civil war (1936 – 1939), which ultimately brought to power Generalisimo Francisco Franco Bahamonde as Spain’s head of state. As a Nationalist general, Mola sent four army columns to capture Madrid, the national capital, which was being defended at that time by the Republican (loyalist) forces. The general referred to his hidden supporters inside the capital as his FIFTH COLUMN. The term caught on after the address was widely reported by international media.
Today, with the United States under external attack from Islamofascist jihadists, the American Left has sought from within our country, even from within our government, to weaken our national effort to defeat this scourge, and even to ally itself with the enemy. Their current efforts are primarily directed toward removing the duly elected president from office.
Since the 2016 election, our Fifth Column here in the United States has consisted of recently-out-of-power left-wing radicals, aided and abetted by the domestic and international "blame America first" crowd, the Make-Believe Media, and all those, including many of our own politicians, most of our own academicians, and far too many federal bureaucrats, who deeply resent Hillary Clinton’s electoral defeat. Had Clinton won, the theme would have been continued leftist corruption-as-usual. Hence, the Deep State arises.
I have previously defined the Deep State thusly: “A highly-sophisticated network of leftist moles that became embedded within the federal government bureaucracy during the period 1989 – 2017, for the purpose of advancing the ‘New World Order,’ through sabotage, propaganda, fake news, smears, character assassination, and murder.”
There had always been leftists in the federal bureaucracy. Certain agencies, such as the Department of State, the Department of Education, the Department of Housing and Urban Development, were particularly attractive to leftists. However, during the eight long years of the Obama administration, ALL agencies in the federal bureaucracy became infested with leftist ideologues, many of whom were promoted to positions of authority, and all too many of whom still occupy positions of trust and responsibility, allowing many of them unbridled access to highly classified information and the very foundations of our national security.
Indeed, during the Obama administration, many agencies became politically weaponized, their functions turned upon We the People in an ongoing effort to silence opposition to the Obamite agenda to destroy what was left of our Republic. The Internal Revenue Service was exposed as one such agency. Many in state and local law enforcement became uncomfortable with the direction of the Department of Justice, and more specifically, the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
Largely escaping public notice was the political weaponization of the US intelligence community, though some of us familiar with that community saw red flags in the appointment of James Clapper as Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, and of John (“Jihadi John”) Brennan as Director of National Intelligence.
The proverbial tip of the iceberg has now become plainly visible with the revelation of how the FBI used an unverified and unverifiable “dossier,” commissioned and paid for by the Democrat National Committee and the Clinton campaign, to obtain a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court warrant to spy first on the Trump presidential campaign and later on the Trump presidential transition team. How many other times has this been done? Let’s have the NAMES of those responsible. And let’s have indictments, arrests, trials, and CONVICTIONS of the responsible individuals, NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE!!!
The rotten onion will continue to peel, and many more misdeeds will come to light in the coming months. Unfortunately, what should be the driving engine for more transparency in the federal bureaucracy, the Department of Justice, has yet to get its own act together.
