Free at last. .. didn't last long. Thank goodness we went south for a day of learning and sea trial. Half way to Biscayne bay red fluid started seeping out of the steering wheel.  It looked like blood.

We anchored off Key Biscayne and shared the view of Miami skyline at night and the epic sunset with its millionaire residents.

Today the previous owner agreed to help us fix the hydrolic steering,  so we will be heading back to Miami, this time heading up the river inland under over a dozen bridges, seven of which will have to be opened for us. This is in an industrial area north west of Hialeah, at a place that doesn't normally allow people to stay on board.

We are waiting for the go ahead. We should be fine to make it there but it isn't certain so we need prayer for God to steer us all the way in!

But on the good note,  I was able to practice steering,  learn the GPS module, dashboard, got us anchored and exactly where we wanted to head to. I was happy to remember,  I am good at this STUFF!  Smile

Should be at the new Miami location through Monday.

Thank God we found the issue sooner than later.

Found this: Basic hydraulic fluid is amber. Brake fluids can be dyed red (common) or green (less common). Most US military fluid (23699, I believe) is red, but Skydrol (fire resistant aero hydraulic fluid) is purple.

Well thsnks! Ours is red-ish. It really looked like blood pouring out of the steering column. The previous owner owns a boat repair biz in Miami. He is here helping. We have to replace the seal. The surveyor had said pressure should be at 18 pounds, he changed it to that but made a note it was goin...

Aha .. what I learned. Boats made in the 80s used transmission fluid in the hydrolic steeering sysstems  which is what we have and that is reddish. It's a huge ordeal to switch the system over. Today most boats use hydrolic fluid not transmission fluid.
