Day 10 - Bible Study - 63 Things for my 63rd Birthday

Today, on the tenth day of adding 63 new things to my life to make it better, I added bible study. I am living in challenging times and can see only more difficult challenges ahead. My spirit needs reinforcement to get me through these days and my mind needs a positive message straight from the source.

I grew up in a family where reading the bible was a common everyday occurrence. In the past I  read the bible front to back several times and did additional in-depth studies over the years. At one time I taught the youth and young adult class in the church I attended. It has been a while since I read the bible every day. I feel like it is time to start again. 

After flipping around through the familiar pages of my well worn favorite bible, I picked a verse to read. When I looked up at my computer, I saw someone posted a picture of what many think appears to be an angel over the light tribute to the twin towers on social media. After checking it out, I have to agree that it looks very much like something, maybe an angel, in the clouds. 

It made me smile to think I got a hopeful angel message and one representing hope after this terrible loss and tragedy in our country and in my life. I didn't lose anyone that day who was a family or friend but was no less robbed of something precious like every other American who loves their country and their fellow countrymen. Peace, love, happiness and freedom were stolen from us all that day. 

For myself a great hope I held onto and worked hard to make happen suddenly seemed impossible. I was working on a project called Hope For the Future, yet there seemed to be none left that was predictable after this event. 

I'm feeling loss now and realize compared to what happened on 911 I should feel blessed instead. The bible verse I chose goes well with this image in that way. So I will take it as a personal "sign" of hope restored even after disaster. And if I hadn't stopped to read my bible and look up right when I did, I would have never seen this.

The words from the bible that spoke to me tonight were from 1 Timothy, chapter 6 verse 11: ........follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness. 12: Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called.........

God please bless me, all who read this and America.
