Today, on the sixth day of adding 63 new things to my life to make it better, I added to be sure I am drinking the proper amount of fluids every day. I take a look at water vs other liquids and especially the one so called "bad for you" drink that I like, Diet Coke.

I think I may already be meeting the minimum requirements for fluid intake to my diet but now I will be making note of it to be sure. I also want to make sure I don't drink too many fluids because I have an issue with swelling from time to time that doctors haven't really figured out the cause of it yet. 


I read from the Mayo Clinic website that a woman should have on average nine eight ounce servings of liquids a day, and for men that would be about thirteen eight ounce servings. The Mayo Clinic also notes appropriate times for more fluids like during exercise or along with certain health problems. 


I don't like the taste of water and am skeptical about the purity of tap water so I drink a lot of Diet Cokes currently. I know there is a lot of information out there about how bad diet sodas are for health but I also found a more logical report that includes studies showing many of those things are false. That report does point to certain factors to be aware of such as the psychological things going on with diet soda drinkers and the real fact that all sodas are acidic. 


That last factor alone will mean I will be cutting out Diet Cokes soon along this 63 day journey because I will be eliminating acidic foods and drinks along the way. 


Near the end of the video, my kitty named "BooBoo Kitty" (or just KITTY, for short) came up and paid me a visit. She agrees, it is important to get enough fluids every day and that cutting out acid in my consumption means I better start liking the taste of water fast. Wink


At the end I accidentally refer to this as my 5th day, but it is the 6th day already! Wow - I can hardly believe I have been at it for almost a week.
