Day 5 - YouTube Routine - 63 Things for my 63rd Birthday

Today, on the fifth day of adding 63 new things to my life to make it better, I added to incorporate a YouTube routine. Before I could set up a routine, I had to learn a few minimum basics about how to use the site and best practices. This video is about some of the things I encountered.

I consider myself to be pretty website savvy yet I find YouTube to be a complex website to master. I started building websites in 1999 and yet it has taken me a few days to get this far to where I feel like I can readily incorporate the routine needed to produce this 63 things series.

One of the hardest things I encountered was understanding how to monetize my channel. Lets face it, I can make videos and put them on one of my own websites just about as easy as I can put them here. I am motivated to learn and use YouTube for reaching out and reaching others, true, but as well as for the prospects of adding income to my life.

I was hoping to be able to add Amazon links right here in this area of description for the rare occasions that I might be able to pass on helpful information that way too. However, I find that is generally frowned on, so I had to also decide how and where to set up a read more area off YouTube so I can offer more information, more informative links and even affiliate Amazon links if I know of some related to my blog.

I signed up for Adsense and am awaiting approval. I sure hope I get it!

I have tried out most of the creator studio interfaces that are directly related to the output of the video as is seen online. There are still numerous other areas I need to learn about and so now, starting today, I will not only upload my video but also spend a little time learning more about one or the other aspects of using the site.

There is so much more to do, I am sure this routine will be be quite lengthy in the beginning until I get my feet wet.
