I began having this problem about a week ago and searching brought up dozens of possible solutions to this problem that may exist due to a number of causes. All that were in my capacity to adjust or try, I did. None of them worked for me. From there the next fixes went to replacing graphics cards and GPUs! This not being in my budget, I was sure hoping that wouldn't be the fix needed.

Today my computer shut down from watching a video again and would not restart. The only thing that came to mind to try before calling a repair service was to take it apart and clean it inside. I had not seen this as a fix but figured it couldn't hurt even though I was not clocking over heating as an issue. Yes it was mucky and the fans were coated. Three hours later, everything was put back together and I cranked it up. Success! So far so good!

I found this to be a widespread issue which and for many people discussing it in forums some of the solutions I found were helpful. For those who may be looking for the answer, I'm attaching articles containing several common fixes below as well as information on how to clean your computer.

The only tools I used were: A microfiber dust cloth,  cans of air,  and this awesome little micro vacuum attachment tool kit. This was my first time to use the tool kit and I think it will come in handy for lots of other cleaning challenges such as in tight spaces in my car.

If you have this problem, and cleaning doesn't work, maybe you will find an answer to it in one of the articles below.

I haven't cleaned the inside of my computer since I bought it four years ago. I guess it's time.
