Tonight, I thought of my very good and long time friend, Rick Helm, aka Richard L Helm, who died suddenly and unexpectedly from unknown causes.

The only reference I could find.

HELM- Richard Helm passed away March 27, 2012. A.B. Coleman Mortuary, Inc. 5660 Moncrief Road, Jacksonville, FL 32209 (904) 768-0507 Published in the Florida Times-Union on Mar.28 2012 http://www.legacy.com/obi...

This is a picture of Rick and I. I'm so glad I had my hand over his heart. He had such a good heart. I guess I just wanted to feel the love of life he carried around in there.

And even though I am a bit short, Rick was 6'7" tall and easily stood out in a crowd.

After thinking of him, it dawned on me that the only place I'd ever seen Rick online, was at a site I had invited him to called SodaHead. Being I had no where else to memorialize him, I would sometimes go and post things on his wall there. He didn't stay around on that site because, of course, the nasty liberals attacked him right away and he wasn't the sort who would tolerate such uncalled for abuse. It didn't matter, it was someplace I could go visit to show respect.

When he died, I didn't find out until he had already been cremated and there was never any service that I was aware of that his friends could attend and so no closure. He didn't have family in the area. Apparently when he didn't show up for work for a couple of days, his employer called the police and they went over and found him passed away in his bed. His distant relatives came in immediately and had him cremated before I was contacted about him passing on. The way this happened made having a page online, someplace he had actually been, more important to me than it would have been in different circumstances.

Here is a screen shot of what I wrote after hearing of his death and the next couple of things I put on his page. Recently Soda Head shut down to member participation so I went to the site tonight and figured out a way to get to this and thought I wanted to grab it before the site completely removes its past history.

I have more things I want to add about Rick, but now that I am thinking of him and all of the fun associated with being in his company, I want to spend a little time in thought and prayer for him and his beautiful soul.

It just doesn't seem right that such a wonderful guy could come and go without being remembered and memorialized somehow.

RIP Rick... All of your friends loved you buddy! Your life mattered!

I loved his answers. They were always straight and right to the point.
He has now moved on to that Eternal Promotion.

Thanks Wanna. I doubt many did. He took a couple of attacks and said never mind all this. He was so easy going. I'm sure that kind of negativity wasn't anything he wanted to give time to.

Mind you Hun... he is asleep, according to the Son of God.
Literally" He is doing better than us, these days.

We are all here for a reason--obviously Rick accomplished his ahead of time. If his presence made you feel good; if we commiserate with you because you shared your feelings, that means his good still remains. And by your sharing, it has enriched us all.

AW that was nice! Thanks Marge. It just struck me that I no longer had even one place to go visit in memory anymore. Then of course the fact that we have a group for that very thing already in place made it clear what needed to be done.

I bet he would appreciate that you care enough to remember him. It is very hard when there is no funeral to attend. The last friend I had in Ft Lauderdale died two years ago and it was really upsetting. I would have flown down for the funeral but there wasn't one. I guess I know how you feel. I wish...

I'm sorry to hear that Janice but yes I think it makes a difference especially when so unexpected. And Thanks. I think he would like it that he is being remembered.
