Common Core the Beginning of the End?

Something happened on the 23rd of July, and it involved Glenn beck’s “We will not Conform” anti Common Core event. It was not the event itself  it was the story about the event titled ”Glenn Beck Takes His Campaign Against Common Core To The Big Screen”. This headline was picked up and carried around the world. Tamera Keith, reporting for National Public Radio (NPR), completely nailed what the struggle against common core was all about. On NPR’s “All Things Considered”, Tamera Keith gave a very sympathetic report on Glenn Beck and on the movement to stop common core.  Ms. Keith even played the comments of a parent, Tara Lynn Butler who said “Why are they trying to break their heart, their will, their - who they are? It seems like by designing things that make them fail, it breaks them. Why? Why do we want to do this to our kids? That is what we all want to know.

It was not the positive press that the stop common core event received from a normally, left of center NPR, it was that the reporter got it right. it may be Ms. Keith was convinced by the presentation. Moreover, the NPR report did not introduce the common core as the “state led set of rigorous standards” as was the norm a few weeks ago. Instead the host, Robert Seigel, introduce them as Common Core, which is getting a little less common. Common core spokesmen used to brag about the number of states who adopted common core. now, not so much, as the number is shrinking. All I have to say is when the big government types lose National Public Radio, they are in trouble.

Now, on to using that litmus test in the Primaries and the School Board elections.

When National Propaganda Radio looses steam on a topic, I'd say that is a good sign but I hope not one of appeasement rather than true lack of support.

When the reporter had that Mom's comment, that told me she is on our side. Go to the link and listen to the comment, no politician, no self appointed Education expert will be able to respond to that. The reporter may be fired, but she knows this is about protecting the kids.
