African black soap is a mild soap that is ideal for children or adults with sensitive skin. In addition to being easy on the skin, African black soap is considered a cure for acne, ring worms and measles. It can also be used as a shampoo that is great for clearing up a dry or itchy scalp, which can eradicate a bout of dandruff as a result.
Things you need:
Coconut husks
Plantain skins
Cocoa pods
Shea tree bark
Hand press
Bowl
Strainer
Double boiler
Lighter
Soap mold
Instructions
Press the coconut husks in a hand press to extract palm oil. ( I'm sure one could use pure coconut oil instead of having to do this part)
Burn the plantain skins, cocoa pods and shea bark to ash.
Mix the ash with water in the bowl, and pour through the strainer into the double boiler.
Add the palm oil to the double boiler and cook over low heat.
Stir the mixture until smooth.
Scoop hot soap off the surface of mixture when it begins to rise to the surface, and leave it to cool.
Pour the cooled wax into the mold of your choice and leave to sit until hard.
Leave the hardened soap to cure for two weeks
