Marxism is alive and well today. We see in the form of political correctness (i.e. cultural Marxism), the notion of equality, class warfare, socialism, and communism. It's at the root of many of the things we are fighting against today. But there is a much darker side to Marxism we don't talk much about that I believe ultimately comes down to good versus evil. God versus Satan.
First a brief word on the life of Karl Marx. Marx actually grew up as a Christian, ironically so did Friedrich Engels and Joesph Stalin (Stalin actually became a seminarian). During Marx formative years he wrote:
"Through love of Christ we turn our hearts at the same time toward our brethren who are inwardly bound to us and for whom He gave Himself in sacrifice."
Sometime around the age of 18 however he began to turn away from God and instead became anti-God. More on that in a moment. Marx didn't work and instead lived off his friend Engels. In truth Marx didn't have many friends and wasn't very pleasant to be around. His friend Bakunin wrote of Marx:
“One has to worship Marx in order to be loved by him. One has at least to fear him in order to be tolerated by him. Marx is extremely proud, up to dirt and madness.”
Marx wife left him twice but returned each time. When she died, Marx didn't bother to attend her funeral. Nor did he attend the funeral of his mother who he just mentioned briefly in a letter to Engels:
“Two hours ago a telegram arrived that my mother is dead. Fate needed to take one member of the family. I already had one foot in the grave. Under the circumstances I am needed more than the old woman. I have to go to Trier about their inheritance.”
Marx had six children. Two of his daughters committed suicide, and three of them died of malnutrition. He lived in financial ruin for years, the “great” economist actually lost money on the stock exchange. When he died less than a dozen attended his funeral. I mention this to give an idea of the kind of man Marx was.
Marx was said to be an atheist and he raised his daughters as atheists, however when one examines his letters and poems it doesn't reveal an unbelief in God but rather a hatred for God and humanity in general. Marx had loved the words of Mephistopheles in Faust: "Everything in existence is worth being destroyed." In his poem “The Pale Maiden” he writes:
“Thus heaven I've forfeited, I know it full well. My soul, once true to God, Is chosen for hell.”
Of God he writes:
"I wish to avenge myself against the One who rules above ...”
There's many more examples of this. Marx was anti-God but he didn't deny the existence of God. He believed, and abhorred Him. His writings often took dark satanic undertones. The same can also be said of his associates. His daughter Eleanor's husband wrote of “The Wickedness of God” where he praised Satan. One of Marx closest friend, Mikhail Bakunin, wrote:
“The Evil One is the satanic revolt against divine authority, revolt... Satan [is] the eternal rebel, the first freethinker and the emancipator of worlds.”
Is it no wonder that Saul Alinskey dedicates his book “Rules for Radicals” to Satan as the first rebel. Marx is called the father of Communism. While Communists are atheists they do have a god-less religion. The leaders of Communism are often deified and worshiped as gods. Under the iron curtain the communists went out of there way to not only crush Christianity but blaspheme it in the process. Why blaspheme something you don't believe in? Richard Wurmbrand was a pastor who was imprisoned for 14 years in Romania for preaching the gospel and speaking out against Communism. He testified before the United States Senate in 1966 in which he said:
“…The church can never have a peaceful coexistence with atheism. Everybody would laugh if I would say that health can peacefully exist with the microbe of tuberculosis, that the FBI can coexist peacefully with gangsters, that the church can peacefully exist with drunkenness, but communism and atheism is much worse than drug addiction and drunkenness. You drink a little wine and the next day it passes, but communism poisons youth and our children since 50 years. How can there be peaceful existence with this on the side of churchmen and the church leadership I cannot understand.”
The conclusion drawn is behind the ideology and economics of Marxism is Satan. And just like Satan, Marxism seeks to kill, steal, and destroy. To date 100 million people have been killed by Communism alone. We must remain vigilant so history does not repeat itself.
