I wouldn't suggest anyone listen only to Joel if they need to know about the number of most important issues the bible teaches, such as the incredible meaning of the coming of God to us and sacrifice Jesus made. BUT - I have never listened to Joel and not come away with inspirations. I think he focuses on an aspect of God's word that too many churches don't even touch. When I was a kid it was the lessons he brings up that stuck with me to make me believe that it didn't matter how I perceived my odds created by my own negative mindset and the conditions I found myself in. Every self help speaker in the world is drawing from or mimicking lessons found in the bible whether they even know it or not. I don't watch Joel- I listen to him because I find his stage personna telling me this guy is a little too slick for my liking. I get it - why people don't like him or his ministry and think he's made too much money peddling hopes and dreams of prosperity. But it isn't him I believe, it is the bible stories he tells and his expansion of regular life situations to illustrate them that get my attention and are usually helpful to me. I find it odd to be kind of sticking up for him lol!!! Seriously - I do understand the aversion to him but I also appreciate that he is reminding me of the source of all of my hope - which is in God not in myself. And I think if he can help me then he must also be helping others in similar ways. I don't support his ministry, nor seek it out to watch or anything like that. But when I've stumbled upon something he's broadcast, I usually stop and listen and almost every time God is using him to tell me something I've forgotten. I struggle with a lot of demons telling me I'm not able or good enough all the time. He reminds me of the examples in the bible where I am told, it doesn't matter what I think. It only matters how God operates. Ok here's one I just came across - and I listened to it - (I did not watch it because like I said I get turned off with the visuals) and it spoke exactly to what I needed to hear right now. https://www.youtube.com/w... And this is a serious offer- that if you or anyone else reading takes the time to listen and would like to share the faults in it with me, I'd really be open to hearing them. Maybe I am able to completely isolate the rest of Joel from the specific messages I get from listening and that might not be what others can or are willing to do. I guess the question is, is that a danger?
