After weeks of searching for a boat that included driving around the state of Florida looking at one disappointment after the other, and dealing with a variety of types of listing brokers, I made two good finds.
One was a boat that might work for me and the results of that find are not yet determined. The other was a broker by the name of Bill Martz in Stuart Florida who was frank enough to tell me a boat I was looking at probably would not pass a survey. Of all the brokers I met, he was the only one who spoke up with good will towards being helpful to me, the buyer. I was so impressed by this that I asked Bill to represent me in the negotiations of an offer for the potential good boat.
However, as it turns out, because I had already spoken with the listing broker, he was unable to do that yet he still offered good advice and even followed up with a few things I had inquired about the boat in question.
I'm bummed I can't repay his good will by using his services, and writing a recommendation is all I can do to return the favors so this is it. As a potentil buyer, if this or another boat that I found through the listing broker doesn't pan out and if I am ever looking again I'll be giving him a call and would recommend you do the same.
I can only write about my own experiences, so I can't refer to how it is to list a boat with Bill Martz but if integrity and helpfulness matter to you, I can at least point out that I found these traits in my dealings with him.
I am always leary about putting phone numbers on web sites so I will just refer you to him at United Yacht Sales, 110 SW Atlantic Avenue, Stuart FL - and you can look up the number if you are interested.
