I have shared Thanksgiving with the same group of friends for about ten years. If anyone we know has passed we usually bring them up and talk about what we were thankful for from knowing them after dinner. This year we had two missing. After we talked about them several of us were saddend by it because they were close friends who were with us last year.

A dear friend of mine obviously trying to cheer us up asked what we would or wouldn't want to be remembered for. This turned out to be fun as we remembered the crazy things we did when we were young and others would remind us of the good things we did too. This completely changed the mood and we agreed that from here on every year after we remembered our lost loved friends and family that we would go on with this again.

One friend said he would have to get busy to do things he would hope to be remembered for just as much as he hoped he did at least a few things he would just as soon everyone forgot because that meant he was still living! LOL

Also while we were missing two it so happened that we gained two more to our get together, one new baby and a sister of one of our group has moved to the area. At the end of the day we all agreed we had plenty of things to be thankful for.

Thank you for sharing this. I am going to ask my guys at the next meeting what they want to be remembered for. This is a great idea for anytime.
