Wow dodged another bullet!

Yesterday I was awoken with a call that a tornado storm warning was about to hit where I live. After the last sudden small tornado that hit my back yard a few months ago, I was in a panic to find my cat and a place to hunker down. I had forgotten how much stuff was shoved into the closet that I deemed the safest spot due to it's location and construction and we were jammed in there for over thirty minutes with no idea what was going on. The cat was calmer than I was.

I only today heard about the extent of damage done and was surprised at how bad it was in some areas since all we got was a few loose palm tree parts scattered around the yard. The incident that gave me goose bumps was where trucks overturned on the Dames Point bridge. I hate going over that bridge because it is so long, high and steep. Having been in six major car accidents my mind naturally recalls the dynamics of collisions and getting tossed off the bridge could easily happen in a wreck. I heard a story today too of someone who got caught up there behind a wreck with a storm coming and positioned between trucks at the top. An officer that happened to be behind her came to her car and told her that she might want to get out of and away from her car in case one of the trucks got tossed over. I never thought of that! After seeing the pictures of the trucks dangling off the side of the bridge, now I'll have to double up my prayers and mantra to get over the Dames Point in the future.

Below are articles about the damage around town including the trucks on the bridge.

Glad I'm not down there any more, and yes, the Dames Point is a rush to drive over. Try it on a motorcycle.
