MORNING MUSINGS

This morning, as I sometimes do some mornings, woke up ruminating.  Off in the far inner reaches of what sometimes passes for my mind, I was semi-immersed in vague thought.  Something was bothering me and I couldn’t quite figure out what it was.

It came to me slowly.  “Biden!”  What the hell kind of a name is “Biden?”  It just HAS to be shortened or Anglicized for something else.  I began thinking what it might have been.  I settled on “Bidenski.”  I’m guessing I was right because, playing around with my computer, I came upon that exact surname, in this case belonging to one Franz Bidenski of mid 19th century East Prussia, in what would likely be Poland of 2020.

In fact, there are numerous Bidenskis in the United States.  No Bidens.  So when was the name shortened, and in what generation?  Why was it shortened?  Is Quid pro Joe perhaps unhappy with his East Prussian (or Polish) ancestry?  I imagine at least some of We the People, especially those of us of Eastern European origins, might like to know.

How about it, Joe?  I mean, come on, man!
