5/19/16 I am so saddened and disheartened to see the young, and younger than me people I know, falling for the enticement of socialism. When I come across anything that points out issues I think they might pay attention to even in the slightest I post them and especially on my private FB page where maybe just maybe it might get looked at.

The attached article caught my eye as one of those I will pass on. I feel so bad for the people of Venezuela. They have really been through a lot under Chavez and even now after his passing. Like this article points out , Bernie Sanders' supporters should take a good look at what is going on there to see the pitfalls of socialism in action today in our times. But will they? And if they do, will they dismiss it by thinking it is different than the "European Socialism" they seem to hold up as some sort of shining light as if that is some different brand, and as if their "Democratic Socialism" is something new and shiny that won't do them any harm?

Socialism depends on the working class paying extremely high taxes to pay for programs that are almost never ran in any sort of efficient or fair fashion. Free Healthcare? We only have to look at the Veterans Hospitals and care, or lack thereof, for a glimpse of what that would be like. Free College? Nothing is free my friends, and that which you take from the government, you take from the working class. There is nothing the government can give that it hasn't first taken by force from taxpayers. By force, meaning if you don't pay your taxes what happens to you? You go to prison.

Back to free college, in Soviet Russia, under their communist programs children were tested and it was determined who was a fair candidate for higher learning and who was not. Who do you think they gave the free college to? Do you think the low testers were given the same opportunities as those who tested high? No they weren't! And your fate was sealed at a very young age. Why do you think common core is so obsessed with testing? Those of us who refer to it as Commie Core recognize exactly where this is headed.

Some of our most brilliant minds would have been slotted to live as laborers under that program. Even Einstein was thought to be a slow learner. He probably would have never been given the free college. And because the state was in control, no child had the opportunity to prove themselves beyond what the testing showed. In communist Russia, one hoped to be either brilliant or an outstanding athlete or performer where the only other opportunities were for anything other than a peasant's life. That still didn't prevent you, or one of your servants from standing in a bread or toilet paper line to have your rations dispensed. Because you see when the government is in control, it is only up to the government to determine what you have.

Another Country today's socialist crazed youth are holding up is Denmark, because Bernie has promoted it as an example. But Denmark has come right out and stated, don't boast our socialism as a reason for our doing well, look at our capitalism as a cause.

All any socialist minded person has to do, that is - one who isn't aspiring to do nothing with their lives but live off the government, (ie other people's hard earned money)  is look up tax rates in these "Glorious Socialist" states and see for themselves how much will be required of them to continue paying the way for everyone else for the rest of their lives. So many are ignorant and deceived to think they are not wishing themselves to be slave labor to the state by supporting socialism in America.

Those of us who pay attention, study and know the communist manifesto, recognize this push for socialism is just but a step in the direction of communism for there is hardly a sliver of difference that exists between the two. Stalin said socialism is the decline of capitalism into communism.

I can understand the disillusionment many seem to have about capitalism. It seems like the only capitalism that these socialist minded people can perceive is crony- capitalism, not free market capitalism. And sure after all none of us like to see the state and the businesses team up to support each other and grease each others pockets for their own personal gains. But that is not free market capitalism which is the only hope of anyone to rise above the stations they were born in to become something more such as a business owner, an entrepreneur, a mom and pop corporation to make a living better than the one their parents had. This was up until this generation, the American Dream, to do better, be better, have an easier life than one was born to.

Socialism will not and can not do that for anyone. All it ever does is share the poverty not the wealth. Every socialist state that has ever existed always had the wealthy elite remaining at the top of the food chain. The only difference is there is no capitalistic opportunities for anyone else to get there through hard work and smart management. Now overly regulated, complicated and convoluted laws serve to protect the haves and not encourage the have-nots to compete. But who has pushed this kind of law on the people but the very same ones now pushing their version of salvation from the situation, ie socialism? This will only keep them and their own in power and wealth, not those who will labor with the tax burdens on their backs to carry.

So please, my friends, take a look at what is happening in Venezuela. This is the socialism that has a long history in the world with similar results. It has never saved a nation, only destroyed nations and worse, destroyed the hopes individuals may have to succeed in life as people give up more and more freedoms to be taken care of by an all controlling state.

I think it really boils down to one question. What are you really asking for in your life? Freedom or slavery? If freedom, then socialism is not going to be the answer to your desires.

Just taking my liberal niece into consideration it appears that the under 35's think socialism is something new. To them, the word Socialism means only to 'bring people together'.

Well sure, we need more of this 'togetherness' but that's not what Socialism means to those of us who were born in the...

That seems to indicate they had no formal history taught to them about socialism at all! I feel so lucky that I had a class as early as fourth grade. Because of it, I became aware of the agenda at a very early age. Why do you think they won't take the time to look it up and find out what it is they ...

Sadly, they will think it's simply because Venezuela didn't do it right, but THEY will.

This ain't bad, Hon, but as you have said, it could do with a bit of of cutting. Virtually all the gems are there, just a matter of whacking away at the excess.
