While sitting on my back porch

being thankful for my sight,

my eyes absorb the colors

and life plays out in light.

A white crane extends its neck

to see the land crabs play.

The black snake slithers in the sun

while the lizard runs away.

The red cardinal at the feeder

takes a bath after his fill.

The butterflies and dragonflies

are swooping for their meal.

Two dolphins breach the water

and a fish jumps out ahead.

The strange black cat that claims me

gazes silently from its bed.

A tiny brown marsh rabbit

jumps to hide among the flowers.

I haven't seen one here in years.

This is truly a magical hour.

I look thoughtfully at blue skies

green grasses and tall trees.

From here I see the vegetables

in the garden full of leaves.

Surrounded by God's miracles,

I'm happy just to be.

So thankful am I to witness this

and so blessed that I can see.

Now if I can only figure out how to add the part about the little duck I just saw fly right through the slots between the neighbor's white fence posts! Good grief! lol
