The media narrative today is that America has become "xenophobic" and is turning its back on new immigrants. But that narrative is sharply contradicted by the fact that the United States maintains the most generous immigration policies in the world.
My reason is that here in the US, our forefathers and ancestors FOUGHT for our freedoms. My uncles and aunts FOUGHT WWII for the freedom of others.
They lived through horrible wars, a depression and when they had a surplus of income collected through taxes it went to help others less fortunate.
What more can we do? To immigrants, I would tell them that John Kennedy said it best; Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country".
