lol yep and that wasn't even all of them from what I can tell so far - I was thinking - imagine the food they must have shared after this photo! Country cooking at it's finest I'm sure!

No doubt there was enough food to feed twice as many in the photo with enough leftover to take home!

Made a gem of a find. In going through my mother's things I found the name of her mother's maiden name, her father's surname, her mother's maiden name (and place of birth. Why such a find? Nobody in m...

If my great grandfather had two sons, who were born in the 1800s, that would make our grandfathers cousins. How would MY generation be related to those of my grandfather's cousin?
Wanda Hope Carter
I am always terrible at figuring this kind of thing out. I got lost at, this makes our grandfathers cousins. But doesn't the 2nd cousin or twice removed designation come in to play down the lines ?

I've responded to this four times now, and each time the comment disappears. Let's see if this one stays--if not, I give up.

My great-grandfather's two sons would be brothers, not cousins. So one would be my grandfather and the other my great-uncle.

May I suggest ... to copy paste this in a blog with the name of the persons you are trying to track in the title - that way - if someone searches the same names online they will find it to be able to read it. Just posting it in a comment section won't put it in a search engine.

And sadly, no doubt, your great aunt died of something that is routinely handled in hospitals every day.

I saw so much of this the cemetery in Virginia City. Often it was mother and child. My sister-in-law who recently retired from obstetrics said that sometimes the babies throats weren't cleared...

I agree. Her dc says that the baby died from cholera in family. Makes me wonder why others in the family survived.

Dang, I think 12 years of Bailey research just went up in smoke. My 2nd g-grandfather is Seth W Bailey (1842-1919). My dad traced Seth's father to James Bailey, 1810-1879, a son of John Thumby Bailey,...

That's so disrespectful and I'm sorry. However, I like it. I like that the cross is partially buried and it gives me the idea that although the stone was defaced, the cross still endures and it still stands for crucification of Jesus. They can't take that away!
