Time is UTC.  An annular solar eclipse happens when the Moon covers the Sun's center, leaving the Sun's visible outer edges to form a “ring of fire” or annulus around the Moon.  The name “annular” comes from the Latin word for ring, “annulus.” These eclipses are named for their darkest, or maximum, point even if it only lasts less than a second. If the characteristic ring of fire is visible from even just one location, the whole eclipse is called an annular solar eclipse.

Eclipses amplify the basic energy of the Sun and Moon, putting extra stress on people and systems channelling this boost. Minor conflicts easily escalate into disproportionate confrontations. Contrasts are more obvious and seem irresolvable. Grey areas vanish into black and white tensions. Unstable systems and people can break down, unable to handle the high energy.

Mars, Uranus, and Pluto are the three planets that symbolize the destructive/creative energies that flow through our lives. When they combine, as they will over the next week, extreme reactions and events are likely. Our anger is closer to the surface, and when released can quickly reach “thermonuclear” levels. Some situations need to be blown apart and re-assembled, but that process can be painful and frightening. We need to use a light touch, coupled with deep breaths, before responding in our interpersonal affairs.
