I had truly hoped not to have to revisit this actual reason to have fear in my lifetime. Brings back bad memories of the nuke tests and training in school. We were taught to get away from windows and stay under our desks - yeah like that would help - and the worst was the rule that if you couldn't get home within thirty minutes - if a nuke warning was sounded, you had to stay at school. The thought of being away from my mother if we were bombed was completely terrifying. I remember running until I thought I would drop without stopping as fast as I possibly could and I made it in exactly thirty minutes. I broke down in tears when I saw the clock that I'd made it. Yeah - it didn't traumatize me much... good grief.. here we are again.
no one is ready for this unless there is early warning and one has a bunker with resources to last until radioactivity drops to "background". And THAT depends on the particular particles in the atmosphere; hydrogen bomb? neutron?
