Why did the angel in Revelations ask the apostle John to eat the scroll which turned his stomach sour?

The best answer I can come up with the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ is a tough book to swallow.

So much is hard to understand and the bits that the Holy Ghost reveals to you leaves a sour spot in your stomach when you realize what all your unsaved friends and family will have to endure if they are not saved.

Matthew 3:7 But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Romans 2:5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,

Zephaniah 1:18 Neither their silver nor their gold Will be able to deliver them On the day of the Lord’s wrath; And all the earth will be devoured In the fire of His jealousy,

For He will make a complete end, Indeed a terrifying one, Of all the inhabitants of the earth.

Jeremiah 30:7 Alas! for that day is great, so that none is like it: it is even the time of Jacob's trouble, but he shall be saved out of it.

Romans 5:9 “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.”
