TWENTY-EIGHTH AMENDMENT: TERM LIMITS

A new Constitutional Amendment is proposed herein, the purpose of which would be to establish reasonable term limits for both the Executive and Legislative Branches, and to return the election of Senators to the States.
The proposed Amendment . . .
~ Repeals the Seventeenth (Popular election of Senators) and Twenty-Second (Presidential term limits) Amendments
~ Establishes new term limits for President and Vice President
~ Establishes term limits for Senators and Representatives
Section 1: The Seventeenth Article of Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America is hereby repealed.
Section 2: The Twenty-Second Article of Amendment to the Constitution of the United States of America is hereby repealed.
Section 3: No person shall be elected to the Office of President or of Vice President more than three times.
Section 4: No person shall be elected to the Senate for more than two consecutive terms.
Section 5: No person shall be elected to the House of Representatives for more than six consecutive terms.
MY TAKE: The return of the procedure of election to the Senate to the various State legislatures restores the original balance of power envisioned by the Framers. This has been seen by many conservatives and libertarians as a formidable positive step toward the ultimate goal of We the People in draining the Swamp.
At present, there is no term limitation on the Vice President. Section 3 changes that, and provides for a more reasonable three term versus two term limit on the President.
Sections 3, 4, and 5 essentially provide a twelve-year tenure in office for both the Executive and Legislative Branches. The President and Vice President are limited to three terms during their lifetimes, while the Legislative Branch is limited to three consecutive terms. A further limitation of Senate terms may be desirable: That after serving two consecutive terms, a Senator must wait four or six years before being elected again to the Senate.
