ROE v. WADE MEETS COMMON SENSE

R. A. Schultz

OK, now, let’s just say POTUS appoints Judge Amy Barrett (my choice) to the upcoming Supreme Court vacancy and let’s say she’s confirmed by the Senate, after the usual wailing and gnashing of teeth, self-castrations, and leaps from tall buildings in protest.  Justice Barrett then takes office.

Has Roe v. Wade been overturned?

Of course not!

Years will pass before a re-hearing of the subject of Roe v Wade ever comes to the attention of the Supreme Court, with an action likely originating in a state court, appealed to a federal court, and then appealed to a federal appellate court.  SCOTUS could very well decide not to even hear the federal appeals court case, thereby stifling the matter, at least for a while or the appellate court’s decision that Roe v. Wade is NOT constitutional may be allowed to stand.

Should the case be heard by SCOTUS and say, for the sake of argument,  Roe v. Wade is overturned by a 6-3 decision, and Justice Barrett writes a scathing decision, castigating the legal midgets who decided the matter originally.

Do women seeking an abortion have to go to a back alley to obtain one?

Of course not!

The subject matter is now thrown back to the 50 state legislatures.  While any new laws are pending in the states, the old laws are still in effect.  Each state will address the matter in conformity with the wishes of the majority of that state’s populace.  If you live in a state that absolutely forbids abortion under any circumstances (HIGHLY unlikely), you can simply cross a state line to kill your baby.

Frankly, I couldn’t care less.  I personally oppose abortion, but with some exceptions.  If you want an abortion, go right ahead and get one in the state of your choice.  Just don’t demand that I pay for it!  And don’t pretend that you’re offended by my “violation” of your nonexistent “Right to Privacy.”

The current Make-Believe Media-generated hysteria over this issue would be humorous were it not for the fact that so many know-nothings truly know nothing of the issue and its effects.  Snowflakes are especially vulnerable.

Snowflakes:  PLEASE try to educate yourselves about the issues before you do your normal knee-jerk thing.

Judge Barret is my choice as well since Susan Collins vetoes Mike Lee for the job.
But you need to tell President Trump to pick Barrett or you will get another Roberts like Kavanaugh or Kethledge.

Interesting to see you both prefer her --- I haven't had time to really research this. I trust both of your judgements.
