"THEY" messed up the internet!

Searching for items I am shopping for has been a ridiculous nightmare this past week. I long for the time of searching and actually finding what I am looking for in a reasonably short time. NOW, I get more things not related than related to what I am looking for, and the search's decision of what is a best match is artificial but not intelligent. Search algorithms seem to have taken ten steps backwards.

Grrrr

I remember the day when it was the going practice to return words searched for in "parenthesis" exactly or not at all. Ahhhh, how simple was that!? Apparently too simple because that doesn't work on most sites or search engines anymore.

To every searchable site that thinks you know what I am looking for better than I do, and return me time wasting options through your non functionable filters, PLEASE FIX YOUR SEARCH ENGINES!

I have been trying to find 54" dry cleaner plastic garment bags and 4 to 8 foot folding plastic tables. How hard should that be? Oh I found some alright but at what length of hours spent and limited choices? And on the mega sites like Ebay, find something once and just try to find it again the next day. Yeah, good luck with that!  No, I'm not talking about bid items that sold either.

Throw in the same vendors listing their products through multiple sites that rank at the top of the searches and the problem compounds.

Multiply that by the options for naming a product in a search, such as folding table, portable table, plastic folding table, portable plastic table, aluminum folding table, portable aluminum table and so on seemingly infinitely!  And yes, each search returns some of the same selections repeatedly and others that only turn up by the exact search even though they are in fact the exact same product as those that show up with different words. There is no consistency in this across search engines and not even within any search engine I've used in my recent shopping.

Head Slap

I am grimacing at Ebay, Google, Amazon, Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes, and any other site I've happened to land on!  I have not found one site of any size with decent search functionality.

BTW So far - I found one 4 foot folding table that didn't cost an arm and a leg, shipped from China (ugh, sorry, I'm desperate) for under fifteen dollars. BUT they will only sell customers one thing every ten days! OMG What is up with that? i would have bought four. Now I need three more of these or an 8' and another 4'

Dry Cleaner Bags are even harder to find. One day last week I found a small box of about thirty for a reasonable price but not thinking I wouldn't be able to find the product again, I didn't buy it because I wanted to shop around. BIG MISTAKE. Now all I can find are 200 + count shipped at around $45.00! Ugh!

Putting in "clear plastic poly dry cleaner poly bags 54" brings up every size imaginable plus things that aren't even similar except the word bag may somehow apply. It's infuriating! Google especially used to make my shopping online so easy, now it's a drudgery and chore.

This is making me Crabby!!!!!!!!!!!!

I noticed that too lately. Unless you know the brand name and product name exactly, random things are getting harder to find. I was looking for a glass pair of angels to give to a friend who had twins last week. I never found one I liked and gave up.
