It is hard to believe just how far the majority of the GOP has shifted to the Progressive side of the Party. I will never say never to anything in politics, but associating with Trump seems to have a corrupting influence on people. I do not blame Donald Trump for what is happening to the Republican Party. Trump is Trump, and millions of Republicans deliberately chose him as their standard-bearer. I mention him only because I hope his influence will be fleeting.

Today, I heard Rush Limbaugh defending Trump's new entitlement program. Rush's ability to make a cogent argument is legendary. Today he could not and seemed bitter and resentful. Sadly, it reminded me of once trusted allies who instantly turned angry if I questioned anything about Donald Trump. The Republican Party is changing into something I do not recognize. If Rush can be turned, what chance do I have. Therefore, I must go until they come to their senses or until I am proven wrong. I hope and pray I am wrong.

For the first time in my life, I will not be a Republican Party member. However, I will remain a republican as the Party was founded and as Ronald Reagan and my Dad understood it. The Republican Party was born in order to free millions from slavery. Since then, it has served as the strongest defender of liberty. If the Party has turned from that noble goal or has promoted the new slavery of the Progressives, it too will pass into history, like its predecessor the Whigs.

It is a shame to see the Party of my father go this way. If it does, it can go without me. Nothing is sacred and everlasting but God.

The innate desire for liberty was given to humanity so we can come to know and love God, freely and willingly. The Republican Party once served to promote liberty. I hope and pray it will soon return to that objective.

Thanks for sharing. The Dem party is a complete wasteland of corruption. The "communist globalists" have been infiltrating the Rep party for some time now. Personally, I am against all parties.

I live in Florida where unless there is an independent on the ticket, I have no one to vote for in a primary. That is the only reason the Republican party gets to count me as one of their own. If you dig deep enough into Reagan, even he will disappoint you if you are a constitutionalist

I did not leave the Republican Party as a protest, or to make a statement. Nor was it an objection to the two-party system, although I do object to it. I was very involved in the party on a local level. I personally brought many new members, who were also Tea Party members, into the County Republica...

Trump has promised repeatedly to get rid of that "terrible" common core. Can you not support him for at least that?

Trump does not have any idea what common core is about. I head his promise and it is a check list talking point. Trump will never spend the enormous political capital necessary. However if he did, he would realize he should not make that promise, but he still would anyway.
