Yep nothing like last minute prepping
I've been through so many hurricanes that by now I stay somewhat prepped as soon as the season begins.
This is what I am down to for last minute prepping:
Removing anything that a 75 mph wind can blow off my porches or out of my yard. That means moving furniture around and shoving a few things under the house.
Filling up the bathtub and water bottles.
Charging my devices.
Making sure I know how to get news on people I care about who don't have cell phones in case my or their phones go out.
Most of my "what if" plans are either already taken care of or else there is just nothing I can do about them but live through them hopefully.
I plan to stay up tonight until any tornado warning possibilities are over with. (At least)
My biggest concerns include my dock, which already needs repairs. One year during a hurricane we watched a neighbor's dock come apart and bang into mine. Another worry is flooding. The storm drain here is clogged up and my house is on the lowest lying land surrounded by houses built up on higer ground because construction zoning laws changed after my house was built. Their drain off goes to my ground level. Also the water came up about 20 feet into my back yard one year from the bay. Another storm, not even of hurricane magnitude flooded half of my downstairs.
I just need to be ready to act on any of these possibilities where my actions could make a difference.
The rest of it is in God's hands and I pray for all of us staring down into the eye of the storm.
BTW, I'm 10 miles from Galveston - grew up along the coast, so know exactly what's going on with you.
