Having been recently asked if I beleive in reincarnation, this was my answer. 3 points related to my opinion.

1. When I was a child my mother and father would not be together except on the rarest of occasions where we would go to another town. (Long story) When I was about 4 my mother and I met my dad in another town and as we walked down the street, not knowing any better, I grabbed my fathers hand on one side and my mother's on the other. This was probably the first, last and only time I walked with my parents like that. I was so happy to have this double parent connection that I decided I wanted icecream to celebrate and said so. My mother said there probably wasn't an ice cream place anywhere nearby. I said, yes there is, there is one right around the corner across from the feed store. Both parents laughed at me. We had never been here before but I didn't know that as it was as familiar to me as my own town by that age. Sure enough we got to the corner and there it was just like I saw it.  - This started my experiences of knowing places before I had visited before.

2. One time I was praying about my grandmother and grandfather saying how much I missed them. It was shown to me that I need not miss them that they had come back as my son and daugther and things I never realized before became clear. Like, my grandmother died from a blood clot traveling from her leg after her cast came off. My daughter's foot was turned inward when she was born requiring physical therapy to correct it. My grandmother loved to knit and crochet. Neither my mom or I did - yet my little daughter immediately had wanted to learn knitting and was able to turn out amazing things from her first attempt. My son came into the world being a natural fisherman when no one else was and from his first time to fish he knew the use of bait and tackle instinctively and would catch fish when no one else could, just like my grandfather. He also became attached to the first baseball style cap we ever bought him and would not take it off for anything except to swim. My grandfather would never be seen without his cap. There was an immediate annimosity between my son and daughter - just as there was one between my grandmother and grandfather. (There were more similarities and these are but a few examples.)

3 From the bible - In Luke 18 & 19 - 18And it happened that while He was praying alone, the disciples were with Him, and He questioned them, saying, "Who do the people say that I am?" 19They answered and said, "John the Baptist, and others say Elijah; but others, that one of the prophets of old has risen again."…

"He replied, 'The knowledge of the secrets of the kingdom of heaven has been given to you, but not to them. Whoever has will be given more, and he will have an abundance.'" (Matthew 13:11-12)

"I have become its servant by the commission God gave me to present to you the word of God in its fullness - the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations, but is now disclosed to the saints. To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory." (Colossians 1:25-27)

"Listen, I tell you a mystery: We will not all sleep, but we will all be changed." (1 Corinthians 15:51)

"And the disciples asked him, saying, 'Why then do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?'

"But he answered them and said, 'Elijah indeed is to come and will restore all things. But I say to you that Elijah has come already, and they did not know him, but did to him whatever they wished. So also shall the Son of Man suffer at their hand.'

"Then the disciples understood that he had spoken of John the Baptist." (Matthew 17:10-13)
"For all the prophets and the law have prophesied until John. And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who was to come." (Matthew 11:13-14)

"After six days Jesus took Peter, James and John with him and led them up a high mountain, where they were all alone. There he was transfigured before them. His clothes became dazzling white, whiter than anyone in the world could bleach them. And there appeared before them Elijah and Moses, who were talking with Jesus ...

"As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus gave them orders not to tell anyone what they had seen until the Son of Man had risen from the dead.

"They kept the matter to themselves, discussing what 'rising from the dead' meant.

"And they asked him, 'Why do the teachers of the law say that Elijah must come first?'

"Jesus replied, 'To be sure, Elijah does come first, and restores all things.'

"Why then is it written that the Son of Man must suffer much and be rejected?"

"But I tell you, Elijah has come, and they have done to him everything they wished, just as it is written about him." (Mark 9:9-13)

"This is the one ... there has not risen anyone greater than John the Baptist ... And if you are willing to accept it, he is the Elijah who was to come. He who has ears, let him hear." (Matthew 11:11-15)

And there are others referencing John and Elijah - Also I think it is in Daniel that God told him he knew him before he was in his mother's womb.

More verses : "I tell you a truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again." (John 3:3)

"He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created." (James 1:18)

"Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead ..." (1 Peter 1:3)

"If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him." (1 John 2:29)

"Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God." (1 John 4:7)

"We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love our brothers. Anyone who does not love remains in death." (1 John 3:14)

"But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name." (John 20:31)

"Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?'" (John 11:23-26)

"Jesus replied, 'The people of this age marry and are given in marriage. But those who are considered worthy of taking part in that age and in the resurrection from the dead will neither marry nor be given in marriage, and they can no longer die; for they are like the angels. They are God's children, since they are children of the resurrection. But in the account of the bush, even Moses showed that the dead rise, for he calls the Lord 'the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.' He is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for to him all are alive." (Luke 20:27-38)

---- My opinion is I can't say that I know for sure, but I believe it is very likely that reincarnation is the chance for the soul to advance. Energy never dies - we are all energy.
