I saw this headline today, "Ted Cruz Just Dropped The Hammer on The GOP -> Trump Will Be Pleased." In the article it is implied that Cruz is standing up to the GOP by saying they ought not make fun of Trump's supporters. It is suggested this is a signal of his support for Trump and even that Cruz and Trump may have made some kind of agreement.
I disagree with their entire assessment. First of all, long before Trump, Cruz was talking about all of the things Donald Trump has somehow managed to bring media attention to and even more things that they still seem to cower from. When Cruz stood all night to fight the funding of Obamacare, I stayed up with him. The man has faithfully and loyally done all he promised to do as far as I can tell. Trump, being Trump and already a media darling, was able to make a few statements and have them plastered all over the news as if these are new ideas never before expressed by conservatives.
For what ever reason the media has lifted Trump, even if in ways that tout him being controversial, I think we need to stop and wonder about that as much as why conservatives are ignoring where Cruz has stood since he was elected. The media has never been a fan of Ted Cruz and have treated him more like a thorn in their side rather than an important messenger for conservatism.
That Cruz stated it was a bad idea for mainstream GOP to badmouth Trump's supporters, does not to me say he is necessarily a supporter of Trump. It says to me that he has common sense and understands especially the establishment GOP's reckless refusal to give any other than their own favorite sons any credit or credibility. Cruz has been one of the outcast from day one among this league of the GOP.
Many of us are actively engaged in trying to figure out what is going on with Trump but lets not forget we have histories behind many of the candidates that don't leave us having to figure them out. They have proven who they are and what they stand for with public records of service in politics. Lets also not jump to conclusions that aren't warranted such as the insinuations in this article attached below->
