So I went to the beach this afternoon to relax, clear out my cobwebs and throw off a few of these rocks I've been carrying around lately. I got there as the tide was nearly all the way out and parked not too far from the edge of it. There are a few beaches left in NE Florida that we can still drive on and this was one of them.

I had a nice time doing my nails, wading and walking the shore looking for sharks teeth. As the sunset approached, the climax of my afternoon that I so much looked forward to, I noticed the tide was starting to come in. I figured I would pull back or maybe drive to a little more secluded area but when I went to start my car, it wouldn't start! The click click click of the battery not working was unmistakable.

YIKES!

Panic time. There were no cars very close to me and the chances these days of someone having jumper cables is slim to none. I called to see if I could get help from someone who lives nearby but they didn't have jumper cables either. He did offer to come to the beach in case there was help needed and started on his way while I went to plan B. The tide rolled up to about ten feet from my car when I remembered that I had my cell phone and thanks to internet access I could look up the park and find their phone number. Sure enough there was someone out there with a truck who could come jump start me. Then I was just hoping that the battery was the issue.

I called my rescuer on the way and told them they could wait outside the park rather than paying to get in to see if I still needed help or not. The minutes I waited went by like time was frozen and the tide ignored my plight and kept coming up until it was about six feet from the tires.

Finally I saw the white truck down the beach that would have the jumper cables and he took his sweet time driving as slowly as possible to get there while I watched the waves roll on in and closer with each break. Once there it only took a minute to get me jump started thank Goodness!!! But all of the nice relaxation from the earlier part of the day was now only a memory and I was as tense as ever. I had to drive straight  out of the park during the sunset which I missed except for it glaring in my eyes as I drove west. My friend followed me home to make sure there wasn't any other issue going on with the battery.

I got the cables tightened on the battery and hopefully that was all it was.

So I guess this means I will just have to go back tomorrow to see if I can make up for today! Smile

This photo was made some years ago at the same beach after some dang government fool decided that signs would help. Those didn't make it through the winter. I wonder how much was spent on miles of these ugly idiotic signs.

Good to hear that there are places you can drive on the beach. I wish we could around here.
