The Washington Post published an article titled How much is $100 worth in every state based on a government data series that compares price differences among states and metropolitan areas. After finding my state was surprisingly ahead of the curve in dollar buying value I wondered where money was worth the most and the least. Mississippi takes the medal for money having the most buying power at  $115.74 and Washington DC comes in last with $100.00 being worth only $84.60!

When I stop to think of how poorly Washington DC manages money and how little they value what they have, because it comes from the labor of others or from an addiction to borrowing, I wonder if this has reflected itself in the belittlement of its spending power in the area.
