In this exchange Rand Paul said that al-Asad’s actions were illogical. To launch a chemical weapons attack a few miles from Damascus, two days AFTER the U.N. weapons inspectors arrived in Damascus is very illogical indeed. It is so illogical in fact that if al-Asad actually did do it then he is; 1, trying to lose the war against the U.S backed Muslim Brotherhood rebels (unlikely) or 2, that he is desperate (probably not since he is winning the war) or 3, that he is completely insane (very possible, but he is not exhibiting suicidal tendencies).

I am no expert but it their conclusion seems to be assessments based on assumptions. Moreover, it totally discounts the possibility that the rebels ever had or ever used chemical weapons. I would not think we should do something stupid with out a little more proof, especially since it may provoke a third world war. Just sayin’.
